The great hall to the South of the old fortress was expanded towards the North by Leonhard. On the ground floor the Pfeilerstube (pillar room) was built, one of the most beautiful rooms in the castle with a vault resting on four octagonal sandstone pillars. Since the restoration of the hall Franz Anton von Kofler’s weapons collection has been displayed there. It had been purchased by the South Tyrolean Government and is on loan to Prösels Castle. The collection contains predominantly items from the 19 century, some of which originate from the battle fields of Solferino and Custozza. It also includes items stretching back to the times of Leonhard von Völs. A highlight of the collection is a very rare suit of armour of a samurai warrior.
After thorough cleaning and restoration the weapons are now in their new permanent home in the Pfeilersaal in Prösels Castle.
